US to issue limited edition passports featuring Donald Trump for 250th independence anniversary

The United States is set to introduce a limited edition passport design featuring an image of President Donald Trump as part of commemorations marking the country’s 250th independence anniversary.
A State Department official confirmed on Tuesday that the specially designed passports will begin rolling out this summer, with availability initially limited to the Washington Passport Agency for in-person renewals.
Limited Release for In-Person Renewals
According to the official, the new passport design will be the default option for applicants renewing their documents in person at the Washington Passport Agency once it becomes available.
However, standard passport designs will remain unchanged for online applications and other processing locations across the country.
Design Features Trump Image and Gold Signature
A mockup of the new passport shows President Donald Trump’s image and signature printed in gold on the inside cover.
The design is part of a broader series of commemorative projects tied to the United States’ 250th independence anniversary in July.

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said:
“As the United States celebrates America’s 250th anniversary in July, the State Department is preparing to release a limited number of specially designed U.S. passports to commemorate this historic occasion.”
He added that while the passports will feature customised artwork and enhanced imagery, they will still maintain the same high-security standards as regular U.S. passports.
Additional Historical Artwork Included
The back cover of the passport is expected to feature an illustration from John Trumbull’s famous painting The Declaration of Independence.
Currently, U.S. passports display artwork related to the national anthem’s origins, including Percy Moran’s depiction of Francis Scott Key after the Battle of Fort McHenry.
Part of Wider 250th Anniversary Celebrations
The passport design is one of several commemorative initiatives tied to America’s 250th anniversary.
