GMet warns of thunderstorms, rain and strong winds across Ghana

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a fresh weather advisory, warning of unstable weather conditions across several parts of the country.
According to the latest forecast, thunderstorms, overcast skies and intermittent rainfall are expected to continue from Tuesday evening through Wednesday night, April 29, 2026.
Areas Likely to Be Affected
GMet said rain-bearing clouds are currently developing over the
Coastal sector
Middle belt
Transition zone
Northern sector
These conditions are expected to bring widespread cloud cover, thunderstorms and rainfall in some areas.
The agency also warned that occasional strong winds may accompany the storms in affected communities.
Fog and Reduced Visibility Expected Wednesday Morning
For the early hours of Wednesday, GMet forecast misty or foggy weather over mountainous and forested areas.
This could significantly reduce visibility for motorists, commuters and road users, especially during the morning hours.
Rain to Continue During the Day
The agency added that rainstorm activity may continue into Wednesday morning, bringing light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms across the following:
Parts of the coast
Inland communities
Sections of the middle belt
Although some sunny intervals may develop later in the day, GMet cautioned that the improvement could be temporary.
More Rain Expected Later Wednesday
From late afternoon into the night, thunderstorms and rainfall are expected to redevelop across parts of the following:
Coastal areas
Middle belt
Transition zone
Northern regions
GMet has urged residents, especially people living in flood-prone communities and road users, to remain alert and take the necessary safety precautions due to the changing weather conditions.
