Inter Milan secured a historic 10th Coppa Italia title after defeating SS Lazio 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico, completing a domestic double for the first time since 2010.

Inter carried momentum into the final following a dominant 3-0 league win at the same venue just days earlier, which gave the Nerazzurri a psychological edge heading into the showpiece clash.

The Serie A champions controlled proceedings from the start and broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when a corner from Federico Dimarco was flicked on by Marcus Thuram and deflected into the net via Adam Marušić.

Despite lacking manager Maurizio Sarri on the touchline, Lazio struggled to cope with Inter’s high pressing and were repeatedly forced back without building sustained attacks.

Inter doubled their lead after capitalising on a defensive error, as Denzel Dumfries dispossessed Nuno Tavares and set up Lautaro Martínez to calmly finish from close range.

Lazio improved after the break and came close through Tijjani Noslin, while Inter threatened on the counter through Piotr Zieliński and Luis Henrique but could not extend their lead.

Goalkeeper Josep Martínez ensured a clean sheet as Lazio’s late attempts were contained, securing a comfortable finish for the Nerazzurri.

The victory makes Inter Milan the first club since Juventus in 2017/18 to win both Serie A and the Coppa Italia in the same season, marking a successful campaign under Cristian Chivu.

Lazio, meanwhile, missed their final opportunity to secure European qualification and now face pressure to avoid a rare bottom-half finish in the league.
