GPL: Berekum Chelsea hold Asante Kotoko to stalemate at Baba Yara Stadium
Berekum Chelsea held Asante Kotoko to a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon in a tightly contested Ghana Premier League encounter.
Despite enjoying the lion’s share of possession, Kotoko were unable to break down a resolute Chelsea side in the Matchday 18 fixture.
The Porcupine Warriors dominated proceedings at home but lacked the cutting edge in the final third, registering just three shots on target from 13 attempts.

The stalemate leaves Kotoko six points adrift of the top of the table and extends a frustrating run of results following last weekend’s defeat to Swedru All Blacks.
Chelsea, meanwhile, executed their game plan with discipline and composure. Compact in midfield and well organised defensively, the visitors limited Kotoko’s attacking threat for long periods, even after head coach Samuel Boadu was sent off during the match.
Their structure held firm as they absorbed pressure and looked to threaten on the counterattack.

Although they saw less of the ball, Chelsea matched Kotoko with three shots on target and created moments of danger on the break.
Kotoko finished the game with 56 per cent possession, seven corners and territorial dominance, but Chelsea’s defensive shape proved difficult to penetrate.
The visitors ended the match with 44 per cent possession, six total shots and two corners.
For Berekum Chelsea, who remain in the bottom three, the draw provides a measure of encouragement after a challenging first round and represents a positive start to the second half of the season.
