Antoine Semenyo has etched his name into history as only the second Ghanaian to win the Carabao Cup following in the footsteps of Michael Essien, who first achieved the feat with Chelsea F.C. in 2007.

Semenyo lifted his first major trophy just three months after completing a move from AFC Bournemouth to Manchester City.

The Ghana international played a key role as City secured a commanding 2-0 victory over Arsenal F.C. in the EFL Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

While Nico O'Reilly grabbed the headlines with a clinical brace to sink the Premier League leaders, Semenyo’s influence was pivotal throughout the contest.

Touted as a historic clash between the top two teams in England, the final began cautiously, with Arsenal registering the only three shots on target in a tightly contested first half.

Despite not finding the net, Semenyo delivered a tireless performance, driving Manchester City forward with relentless pressing, sharp tackles, and incisive runs that disrupted Arsenal’s rhythm.

His all-action display earned praise from manager Pep Guardiola, who described his contribution as a “world-class shift.”

The triumph not only secures Semenyo’s first major honour but also places him alongside Essien as the only Ghanaians to have conquered the competition ending a near two-decade wait since the Chelsea legend’s historic 2007 triumph.
