Each ceremony reflects its host nation while sharing a unified global theme, reimagining the FIFA World Cup Trophy through a Canadian mosaic symbolising diversity, culture and community.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the event as a celebration of identity and unity, highlighting how Canada’s show will connect with parallel ceremonies across North America.
The opening segment will take fans on a journey across Canada, capturing the nation’s landscapes, cultures and shared passion for football. Organisers say the performance is designed to create a sense of national pride while welcoming the world to the tournament.
Fans attending the stadium are expected to arrive early, as the ceremony will begin 90 minutes before kick-off, with gates opening four hours prior to the match for entertainment, activations and fan experiences.
Canada will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in its opening match, marking a historic moment as the Canadian men’s team plays its first World Cup match on home soil.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will feature 104 matches across 16 host cities in Canada, Mexico and the United States, running from June 11 to July 19, with the final scheduled for New York/New Jersey Stadium.
