Anthony Joshua knocks out Jake Paul in sixth round in Miami, calls out Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua delivered a sixth-round knockout to halt Jake Paul in Miami, finally asserting his class after a frustrating opening against the YouTube-turned-boxer.
The former two-time heavyweight champion from Britain found it difficult to corner Paul early on, as the American used movement to evade danger.
But Joshua’s persistence paid off when a thunderous right hand in the sixth sent Paul crashing to the canvas, leaving him unable to continue.
Paul had struggled to keep his balance throughout the contest and was again unsteady as he tried to rise near the ropes, prompting the referee to wave off the bout at the Kaseya Center. The fight had been scheduled for eight rounds.
Despite the emphatic finish, Joshua was candid in his assessment. The 36-year-old admitted it “wasn’t the best performance”, with many expecting him to dispose of his novice opponent far earlier.

Paul made his trademark flashy entrance, complete with sunglasses and a rap accompaniment, but any bravado faded once the bell rang.
He backpedalled through much of the opening round, though a single left hand briefly lifted the home crowd as Joshua probed with jabs to find his range.
The second round saw Joshua step up the pressure, landing a heavy shot that drew a grim smile from Paul before pinning him on the ropes with a sharp combination.
Still, the Briton struggled to land clean power punches and had to absorb a cheeky uppercut in the third.
A looping hook from Paul caught Joshua off guard in the fourth, more surprising than damaging, before the American was left wincing after a low blow.

By the fifth, however, Paul’s resistance began to fade. A flurry from Joshua dropped him to the canvas and forced a count.
Sensing the end, Joshua pressed forward. Another right hand sent Paul down more heavily late in the round, with the bell arriving just in time to offer brief respite.
It proved only a delay. Early in the sixth, Joshua closed the distance and unleashed the decisive right that ended the fight.
The victory marked Joshua’s return to the ring following his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024 and reignited calls for a blockbuster showdown with long-time rival Tyson Fury.
While the performance may not have been flawless, the outcome was emphatic: Joshua reminded the world of his power, bringing Paul’s bold challenge to a definitive end.
