Accra Hearts of Oak delivered a resilient performance to edge rivals Asante Kotoko 1–0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, reigniting their Ghana Premier League title ambitions in a fiercely contested Super Clash.

The Phobians broke Kotoko’s formidable home record in Matchweek 22 with a display defined by discipline, defensive organisation and clinical execution. Despite being reduced to 10 men before halftime, Hearts of Oak showed remarkable composure to secure all three points.

Hearts began the encounter with intensity, applying sustained pressure on the Porcupine Warriors. Their early dominance paid off when Baba Adamu rose highest to power home a towering header, beating goalkeeper Kamara to hand the visitors a crucial first-half lead.

Kotoko struggled to create meaningful openings, with their midfield failing to consistently supply striker Albert Amoah. Although the hosts enjoyed spells of possession, clear-cut chances were limited. Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare proved decisive, producing key saves to preserve the advantage heading into the break.

After halftime, Kotoko attempted to capitalise on their numerical superiority, increasing tempo and dictating possession. In the 61st minute, Albert Amoah was played onside by Donzo but fired wide in a promising position. Patrick Asiedu later tested Asare from long range, only for the Hearts shot-stopper to deliver another vital intervention.

Hearts continued to threaten on the counterattack. Mawuli Wayo came close with a powerful effort that sailed over the bar before setting up Raphael Amponsah for a one-on-one opportunity in the 77th minute, but Kamara reacted swiftly to deny a second goal.

Kotoko mounted sustained pressure in the closing stages, dominating possession and pushing for an equaliser. However, Hearts of Oak maintained tactical discipline and defensive solidity to see out the contest.

The victory not only handed Hearts local bragging rights but also kept their Ghana Premier League title pursuit firmly on course, underscoring their resilience and championship credentials.
