Woman arrested for setting fire to Pastor Elvis Agyemang’s Alpha Hour Auditorium in shocking attack

A woman has been taken into police custody after allegedly setting fire to the Mountain Grace Chapel (Alpha Hour Auditorium), the worship centre led by Pastor Elvis Agyemang in Accra, on Monday night.
The incident reportedly occurred during a quiet period at the facility, when the suspect is said to have posed as a worshipper engaged in prayer. CCTV footage is said to show her pouring petrol on chairs near the altar before igniting the fire.

Church security personnel responded promptly and were able to contain the flames before they spread extensively. No injuries were reported, and damage to the auditorium was described as limited.
In response, Pastor Elvis Agyemang announced the temporary suspension of all in-person prayer sessions at the venue while restoration and security reviews are undertaken.
He reassured congregants that although the auditorium would remain closed for now, the church’s spiritual activities would continue.

The pastor also noted that the incident was not the first security concern the church has experienced, referencing a previous episode in which an individual allegedly spread powder on the altar, forcing temporary restrictions within the space.
The suspect remains in police custody as authorities investigate the motive behind the act and determine whether others may have been involved.
Law enforcement officials have indicated that the matter is being treated as a serious criminal case, with further updates expected as investigations progress.
