A student, Regan Kwesi Egbe Addo, also known as Morgan Addo, has been arraigned before the Dansoman Circuit Court for allegedly withdrawing GH¢24,849 from two GCB Bank customers’ accounts without authorisation.

According to a report by the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Addo faces two counts of stealing in separate cases and has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecuting officer Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder told the court that the first incident occurred on September 17, 2025, when Addo allegedly disguised himself as a GCB Bank staff member at the Ministries ATM in Accra.

The accused purportedly instructed the victim to accompany him to the Société Générale Ghana Bank branch at Premier Towers, where he stood behind the complainant during a transaction, observed the personal identification number (PIN), and later offered to “clean” the ATM card. He allegedly swapped the card in the process.

Chief Inspector Wonder said Addo proceeded to make unauthorised withdrawals totalling GH¢14,949, using the victim’s card across Accra—including at Kempinski Hotel and the Shell Fuel Station at Airport City.

CCTV reviews at GCB Bank reportedly traced the movements of both Addo and the complainant.

In a second case, the prosecution stated that Addo employed the same method on December 23, 2025, to steal GH¢9,900 from a female GCB customer, who works with the Ministry of Fisheries.

The withdrawal was made around 4:40 p.m.

The woman later filed a complaint after seeing Addo’s name circulated by police as a suspect in ongoing ATM card theft investigations within the Accra Central Division.

The court has granted Addo bail and scheduled a case management conference for March 11, 2026. The trial judge ordered the prosecution to provide witness statements and full disclosures before the next hearing.
