Accra Hearts of Oak clinched a 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in the GHALCA Top 4 clash on Sunday evening at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The win ensured the Phobians finished second in the all-play-all competition with 7 points after three competitive matches.

The highly anticipated game produced an end-to-end contest, with both sides showing attacking intent.

However, it was Hearts of Oak who dictated the tempo, dominating possession and pressing hard to break down Kotoko’s defensive line.

Their persistence paid off in the 5th minute when Frank Duku found the back of the net with a composed finish to give the Phobians the early lead.

Despite Kotoko’s efforts, the Porcupine Warriors failed to equalise before the halftime break.

After the restart, Asante Kotoko came out stronger, mounting pressure on Hearts’ defence.

But skipper Benjamin Asare and the safest pair of hands marshalled the backline impressively, keeping out dangerous threats from Kwame Poku and Albert Amoah.

The decisive moment came in the 74th minute when Emmanuel Amankwah doubled the lead with a powerful header from a corner kick, sealing a famous victory for Hearts of Oak.

The win was celebrated in front of thousands of passionate fans who filled the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

With the result, Hearts of Oak finished second in the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament, showcasing resilience and dominance against their fiercest rivals.
