Apple iPhone 17e Launched: A19 Chip, 48MP Camera, Price and Features

Apple Inc. has officially introduced the iPhone 17e, a more affordable yet powerful addition to its latest smartphone lineup. Designed to deliver high performance, advanced camera capabilities, and improved durability, the device aims to offer premium features at a competitive price point.
Powerful Performance with A19 Chip
At the core of the iPhone 17e is Apple’s latest A19 chip, built on advanced 3-nanometre technology to deliver faster processing speeds and improved energy efficiency. The device features a six-core CPU capable of handling everyday tasks and advanced AI features with ease, while the four-core GPU supports high-end gaming and graphics-intensive applications.
The upgraded 16-core Neural Engine enables faster machine learning tasks and supports Apple Intelligence capabilities, allowing users to benefit from smarter features and more powerful on-device AI processing.
In addition, the smartphone includes Apple’s newly designed C1X cellular modem, which delivers connection speeds up to two times faster than the modem found in the previous generation.
Advanced Camera System with 48MP Fusion Lens
Photography remains a major highlight of the iPhone 17e. The device features a 48-megapixel Fusion camera, capable of capturing highly detailed images and advanced portraits.
The camera also introduces an optical-quality 2x telephoto zoom, allowing users to shoot closer subjects without compromising image quality. Enhanced portrait processing delivers natural depth and smoother background blur, while the improved HDR system produces more accurate skin tones, brighter highlights, and deeper shadows.
For video recording, the phone supports 4K Dolby Vision video at up to 60 frames per second, along with spatial audio recording for immersive playback on supported devices.
Durable Design and Stunning Display
The iPhone 17e features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, delivering vivid colours, sharp contrast, and up to 1200 nits peak HDR brightness for improved visibility outdoors.

To improve durability, Apple has introduced Ceramic Shield 2, which provides up to three times better scratch resistance compared with the previous generation while also reducing screen glare.
The phone is built with aerospace-grade aluminium and carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, ensuring it can withstand everyday use.
MagSafe Charging and All-Day Battery Life
Apple says the iPhone 17e offers all-day battery performance, powered by the efficiency of the A19 chip and the C1X modem.
The device supports USB-C fast charging, allowing it to reach 50% battery in about 30 minutes, as well as MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 15W.
MagSafe also provides access to a large ecosystem of accessories, including wallets, stands, chargers, and cases.
Satellite Connectivity and Safety Features
The iPhone 17e continues Apple’s push toward satellite connectivity. When users are outside cellular and Wi-Fi coverage, they can still access features such as the following:
Emergency SOS via satellite
Messages via satellite

iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence
The device ships with iOS 26, which introduces a redesigned interface called Liquid Glass, along with new AI-powered features.
Apple Intelligence allows users to perform live language translations, interact with visual content on screen, and manage calls and messages more efficiently through tools like Call Screening and message filtering.
Storage, Price, and Availability
The iPhone 17e starts with 256GB of storage, doubling the entry capacity of its predecessor while maintaining the same starting price of $599.
The smartphone will be available in black, white, and soft pink with a premium matte finish.
Pre-orders begin March 4, with official availability starting March 11.
Apple’s Sustainability Efforts
Apple says the iPhone 17e is part of its Apple 2030 carbon-neutral initiative. The device includes 30% recycled materials, including recycled aluminium in the enclosure and recycled cobalt in the battery. Packaging is also 100% fibre-based and recyclable, reducing environmental impact.
