Manchester United beat Aston Villa to strengthen top-four push

Manchester United extended their impressive home form with a 3–1 victory over Aston Villa at Old Trafford, securing a fifth consecutive win on home soil and strengthening their push in the Premier League top-four race.
After a goalless first half, the match burst into life shortly after the restart. United’s early pressure paid off when Casemiro opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, rising expertly to head home from a well-delivered corner by Bruno Fernandes.
The hosts had started the second half brightly, creating several early opportunities, with Amad, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo all threatening before the breakthrough.
Villa responded strongly and restored parity just 11 minutes later. Following sustained pressure of their own, Ross Barkley capitalised on United’s failure to clear a corner, sweeping home a composed equaliser to level the contest at 1–1.
United, however, regained control almost immediately. Just seven minutes after conceding, Fernandes produced a moment of quality, threading a precise first-time pass to Cunha, who finished confidently to restore the home side’s advantage.
The goal shifted momentum firmly back in United’s favour as the game opened up.

Late on, substitute Benjamin Šeško put the result beyond doubt. The forward demonstrated quick footwork inside the box before striking clinically to seal the victory and confirm all three points for the hosts.
Villa continued to search for a way back, with efforts from Jacob Ramsey and Tammy Abraham, but they were unable to find a second goal.
The result sees Manchester United bounce back from their previous defeat, moving three points clear of Villa in third place. It marks their seventh win in nine matches, reinforcing their upward trajectory.
Meanwhile, Unai Emery’s side suffer a third consecutive league defeat, leaving them increasingly vulnerable in the standings as teams below them continue to close the gap.
