The Upper East Regional Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salahu-deen Musah, has refuted claims that he discussed or made promises to any faction involved in the Bawku chieftaincy conflict during a recent engagement with party delegates in Bawku.

On Sunday, 21st September 2025, a video went viral on social media alleging that Mr Musah had pledged support to one side of the Bawku conflict, assuring them of preferential treatment should the NPP elect Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as its flagbearer and subsequently win the general elections.

In a statement responding to the video, Mr Musah categorically denied the allegations, explaining that while he and his team faced various challenges during their visit to the area, his message was strictly focused on ensuring equitable development for all when their candidate emerges victorious in both the primaries and the general elections.

"I wish to state clearly that the meeting was a routine engagement with party delegates, and all discussions focused exclusively on addressing the concerns of party members and advancing the development agenda of the NPP," he said.

“Our party is a responsible and forward-looking one. We are committed to conducting our campaigns in a manner that promotes unity, development, and the welfare of both our members and the broader Ghanaian public.”

He further urged the public to disregard the circulated audio and the misinterpretation of the video, describing them as deliberate distortions engineered by individuals seeking short-term political advantage at the expense of long-term peace and national cohesion.

"I therefore urge everyone to treat the audio and its accompanying narrative with the contempt they deserve. These are calculated fabrications designed to mislead and sow division," he emphasised.
