Popular Nigerian chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has embarked on a new challenge to set a record for the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.

The culinary spectacle, which began on Friday in Lagos, has attracted widespread attention as food lovers, fans, and supporters gather to witness what could be another historic feat.

This attempt is taking place under the close supervision of Guinness World Records officials, who are present to ensure strict compliance with all guidelines.

The challenge centres on preparing one enormous pot of jollof rice. According to Baci, her goal is to cook approximately 250 bags of rice in pursuit of the milestone.

Hilda Baci, who gained global recognition in 2023 after securing the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, expressed optimism about her latest endeavour. She emphasised that beyond breaking records, the event is designed to promote Nigerian cuisine on the international stage.

Organisers revealed that a team of professional chefs, volunteers, and technical experts are supporting the initiative to guarantee safety, efficiency, and proper documentation. The ingredients include hundreds of kilograms of rice, tomatoes, peppers, onions, and spices, all sourced from local farmers and suppliers.

The atmosphere at the venue has been lively and festive, featuring music, cultural performances, and food-tasting activities alongside the cooking.

If successful, Hilda Baci will once again inscribe her name in the Guinness World Records.

Sharing a playful update on social media, she wrote, “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making.”
