The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has assured Ghanaians of a more stable and improved power supply nationwide between April and September this year, as it intensifies efforts to address ongoing electricity challenges.

The assurance was given by ECG’s general manager for external relations, Dr Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, during the launch of a transformer replacement and upgrade exercise at the Teshie Substation in Accra.

Speaking to the media, Dr Ayiku Ayiku acknowledged the power disruptions currently affecting some customers but emphasised that the company is taking decisive steps to resolve the issues.

He expressed confidence that the measures being implemented would significantly improve the situation within the stated period, resulting in a more reliable electricity supply across the country.

According to him, the transformer upgrade project forms part of ECG’s broader strategy to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen Ghana’s power distribution infrastructure.

Dr Ayiku Ayiku further explained that some of the recent outages were linked to technical challenges at the Akosombo Substation, which impacted electricity supply in several communities. However, he noted that interventions are already underway to restore full stability.

Meanwhile, ECG’s general manager for sub-transmission in Accra, Ing. Francis Kofi Atsyatsya, revealed that the transformer replacement exercise will not be limited to the capital but will also be extended to Kumasi and other parts of the country.

He stated that the nationwide project is expected to improve the overall performance of the electricity distribution network while enhancing service delivery to consumers.

The latest announcement comes as many Ghanaians continue to call for a dependable power supply to support businesses, households, and economic activities nationwide.
