ECG announces power outages across Accra, Western, Central Regions April 22

The Electricity Company of Ghana has announced scheduled and emergency power outages across multiple regions on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to improve electricity supply and fix faults within the national grid.

According to ECG, the maintenance works will take place at different times depending on location, with both planned and emergency interruptions expected to affect homes and businesses.

Accra West power outage (9:00am – 5:00pm)

Residents in parts of Accra will experience an eight-hour outage due to planned maintenance. Affected areas include:

Western Region outages (9:00am – 1:00pm)

Planned maintenance in the Western Region will impact:

  • Achantaman

  • Parts of West Tanokrom

  • Nearby areas

Central Region outages (9:00am – 12:00pm)

In the Central Region, affected communities include:

  • Tuba township

  • Mama Africa

  • Lamgba

  • Surrounding areas

Emergency outages (10:00am – 3:00pm)

ECG also announced emergency maintenance affecting several communities, including the following:
Abotareye, Hiawa Nkakaa, Manso, Amenfi, Akyekyere, Bonuama, Suroso, Asankragwa, Mota Kwesi, Bokoro, Aboi Nkwata, Dunkwa, Enhie, Samreboi Moseaso, Asakra, Breman and Odumasi.

The Electricity Company of Ghana apologised for the inconvenience caused and assured the public that engineers are working to resolve faults and stabilise power supply.

ECG emphasised that these maintenance works are essential to strengthen the electricity network and reduce future outages across affected regions.
