Dr Ofori Sarpong donates ultra-modern facility to PRESEC

An old student of Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School and current board chairman, Dr Ofori Sarpong, has donated a modern state-of-the-art facility to his alma mater as a way of giving back to the institution that shaped his character, discipline, and academic journey decades ago.
Dr Sarpong, who also serves as the Global President of the school’s alumni association, said the gesture reflects his appreciation for the quality education and values instilled in him during his time at PRESEC.

The newly commissioned facility is expected to support the government’s efforts to improve access to quality secondary education by reducing congestion in boarding houses and creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
In a Facebook post, the Ghana Education Service praised the contribution, describing it as a clear example of the growing role alumni associations continue to play in the development of educational institutions across the country.
According to the GES, alumni groups now contribute beyond infrastructure projects, extending support through mentorship programmes, scholarships, and institutional governance, all of which help strengthen schools and improve educational outcomes.

The education body commended Dr Sarpong for his “exemplary gesture” and encouraged other old students and corporate individuals to emulate his dedication towards educational development.
GES further stressed that partnerships between alumni, private individuals, and government remain essential in enhancing teaching and learning conditions nationwide.
Meanwhile, school authorities have assured Dr Sarpong and the public that the facility will be properly maintained and effectively utilised to ensure long-term benefits for both current and future students.
