C/R: Husband shoots wife over infidelity allegation in Assin North

A disturbing domestic violence incident unfolded in Anum, within the Assin North District of the Central Region, where a 35-year-old woman, Faustina Ackom, was allegedly shot by her husband, 41-year-old Wahibu Bukari, over suspicions of infidelity.

The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday after Bukari reportedly confronted his wife upon discovering unfamiliar contact numbers on her mobile phone.

According to preliminary accounts, he woke her at about 12:30 a.m. for questioning, which escalated into a violent altercation.

During the confrontation, Bukari allegedly shot Faustina in the left arm and chest as she attempted to flee.

Her cries for help drew the attention of neighbours, who rushed to her aid, as per Graphic Online.

Faustina, a trader and mother of four, is currently receiving treatment at St Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu.

Eyewitness Lydia Yeboah noted that the suspect, who has been battling health issues, had long expressed doubts about his wife’s fidelity. Following the attack, Bukari fled the scene and remains at large.

Police suspect he may have escaped to Assin Fosu, Kushia, or Twifo Praso.

Meanwhile, a team from the Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command has visited the victim at the hospital to assess her condition and gather firsthand information.

Law enforcement has launched a full-scale investigation into the case.
