CHCC 2026: Youth Arise Organisation brings hope and support to Graceland Needy Child Shelter Home

Youth Arise Organisation (YAO) has carried out the 2026 edition of its flagship Community Hope and Charity Campaign (CHCC) at the Graceland Needy Child Shelter Home in Bawjiase, bringing hope and practical support to over 100 children.
The outreach, held on Easter Saturday, April 4, 2026, focused on improving both the learning and living conditions at the facility while engaging the children in impactful educational and health activities.
The campaign, driven by YAO’s network of students, entry-level professionals, and young executives, combined service, learning, and humanitarian support.
Throughout the day, the children participated in sessions such as drawing and storytelling, a spelling bee competition, personal hygiene education, malaria prevention, menstrual hygiene education, study skills, adolescent relationship guidance, and basic financial literacy for teenagers. A mini party with games, music, and refreshments added excitement and joy to the day’s activities.
As part of efforts to promote health and well-being, the outreach featured malaria testing and health education sessions led by health professionals from the Arise Center for Holistic Health Wellness and Nutrition.
In addition, the Youth Alliance for Agricultural Transformation (YAFAT) held a home gardening training session to equip the children and staff with sustainable skills to support their daily needs, reinforcing the campaign’s commitment to long-term impact.
Beyond the educational and health interventions, YAO made significant donations to support both the welfare of the children and ongoing infrastructure development at the home.
Items donated included one trip of sand, one trip of gravel, 20 bags of cement, bags of clothing, sanitary pads, toiletries, food items, stationery, detergents, drinks, and biscuits.

These contributions are expected to support the completion of a three-unit classroom block currently under construction, as well as improve the general living conditions at the facility.

A needs assessment conducted prior to the outreach revealed that materials donated during the 2025 edition of CHCC had been used to initiate the classroom project, which has now reached lintel level.
Portions of the roofing structure of the existing study and sleeping areas have also been improved. The 2026 intervention therefore builds on this progress, with a renewed commitment to completing the classroom block and renovating other structures within the home.
Presenting the items, the Community Development Officer of YAO, Samuel Nii Adjetey, expressed appreciation to the management of the home and highlighted the source of the donations.
“We want to say a very big thank you to management and all the staff of Graceland; you are doing a great job... “All the items you are seeing here are from your brothers and your sisters here," he said.
He further assured the children of the organisation's continued commitment, adding, “Even though we are not here with you, we still think about you all the time and how we can make your stay here better and help you become very great people in the future," he added.
The Global CEO of the Youth Arise Organisation, Mr Moses Baffour Awuah, explained that the decision to support Graceland was inspired by a report from a past participant of YAO’s leadership programme who had earlier visited the home and highlighted its needs.
“Three years ago, one of our people visited this place and saw the situation, especially when it was raining and parts of the building were leaking. When he shared it with me, I said we had to come here,” he noted.
He added that although he was unable to attend the previous outreach, the organisation remained committed to returning to make a meaningful impact, particularly in addressing the roofing challenges.

Mr Awuah also emphasised that the support provided went beyond physical items.
“We know we cannot donate everything, and there may be other needs that are not immediately visible. That is why we have also presented a token to support any pressing needs of the home,” he said, reaffirming the organisation's commitment to supporting the home holistically.

Receiving the items, the founder of Graceland Needy Child Shelter Home, Madam Grace Wobill, expressed deep gratitude for what she described as a timely and impactful intervention.
“The love and compassion you have shown to these vulnerable children is truly remarkable. It is difficult these days to find people who give wholeheartedly without expecting anything in return,” she said.
She further highlighted the challenges faced by the home, explaining, “We dine here, learn here, sleep here; everything happens in one hall."
The classroom project is very important to us, and what you have brought today, especially the sand, gravel, and cement, is exactly what we need at this moment.”
The Community Hope and Charity Campaign is an annual initiative by Youth Arise Organisation aimed at mobilising young people to give back to society through practical acts of service and support.
Each year, the campaign targets vulnerable communities and institutions, providing not only donations but also education, health outreach, and sustainable interventions. The initiative continues to reflect YAO’s belief that consistent, youth-led action can create lasting impact and contribute to building a more compassionate society.
