Ghana’s Black Stars produced a commanding display to overpower the Central African Republic 5–0 in Morocco, edging within touching distance of qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Mohammed Salisu’s powerful header opened the scoring from a Mohammed Kudus cross before Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew, and Kamaldeen Sulemana completed the rout. The victory showcased discipline, tactical balance, and a newfound attacking fluency as Ghana tightened their grip on top spot in Group I.

Below is the full player ratings breakdown from the emphatic win.

Players Rantings

Goalkeeper

Benjamin Asare – 8/10
The Hearts of Oak goalkeeper showed composure and authority throughout the match. Although not heavily tested, Asare organised his defence excellently, communicated effectively, and exuded calm whenever CAR threatened. A confident outing from Ghana’s new number one.

Defenders

Gideon Mensah – 5/10
Mensah maintained positional discipline and contributed four crosses into the box. While solid defensively, his delivery lacked consistency, and he occasionally struggled to support the attack with precision.

Mohammed Salisu – 7/10
A commanding defensive presence. Salisu read the game superbly, timed his tackles well, and gave Ghana the early lead with a trademark header. His physicality and aerial dominance set the tone for the evening.

Alexander Djiku – 8/10
Outstanding once again. Djiku was the rock at the back — composed, vocal, and efficient in his clearances. He added Ghana’s third goal with a well-timed header, making it two goals in his last two appearances. A complete performance from the dependable centre-back.

Caleb Yirenkyi – 4/10
The right-back offered little in attack and was caught out of position a few times. His performance was steady but lacked the drive and intensity needed down the flank.

Midfielders

Thomas Partey – 6/10
Not at his most dominant but effective when needed. Partey controlled the tempo and shielded the defence with maturity. He contributed to Ghana’s second goal with a long-range effort that forced the rebound. A decent but quiet performance.

Kwesi Sibo – 7/10
One of the unsung heroes on the night. Sibo bossed the midfield with energy and tenacity, breaking up play and keeping Ghana’s shape intact. His work rate and positional awareness were crucial in nullifying CAR’s counterattacks.

Fatawu Issahaku – 6/10
A lively presence on the wing but lacked end product. Issahaku made some promising runs and tried to stretch the defence but couldn’t convert his chances. A hard-working display, even if not his most effective outing.

Antoine Semenyo – 4/10
Worked hard but lacked composure in front of goal. The Bournemouth striker missed a couple of good chances that could have extended Ghana’s lead early. A frustrating night despite his strong pressing game.

Forwards

Mohammed Kudus – 6/10
Showed flashes of brilliance with his usual flair and creativity. Kudus assisted Salisu’s opener and caused problems with his dribbling, but he occasionally held onto the ball too long. A good performance but short of his best.

Jordan Ayew – 8/10
Man of the Match. The Leicester City forward led by example — scoring one and assisting two. His movement, intelligence, and link-up play were exceptional. Ayew’s leadership and composure in the final third were key to Ghana’s victory.

Substitutes

Joseph Paintsil – 6/10
Made an immediate impact after coming on, assisting Sulemana’s goal. His pace and direct play added freshness to the attack.

Kamaldeen Sulemana – 6/10
A bright cameo. Scored his first international goal with a composed finish and looked lively throughout his short spell on the pitch.

Elisha Owusu – 5/10
Came on in the 76th minute and played a limited but disciplined role in midfield, maintaining structure.

Jerome Opoku – 4/10
Had minimal involvement after being introduced late.

Prince Owusu – 4/10
Given just eight minutes on his debut. Worked hard off the ball but had little time to make an impact.
