A total of 12,000 young men and women have officially completed their training as Community Protection Assistants (CPAs) under a joint initiative by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and the Ghana Police Service.

The recruits, drawn from across the country, were taken through basic policing and community safety training.

They will now be deployed to various communities to support the police in maintaining law and order while helping to bridge the gap between security agencies and the public.

The milestone was celebrated with a passing-out parade at the Tesano Police Training School in Accra.

The ceremony was graced by the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, alongside YEA Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale.

The CPA programme was introduced following a Memorandum of Understanding signed on May 19, 2025, between YEA and the Ghana Police Service, with Interior Minister Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka serving as witness.

The initiative was designed to both expand community policing efforts and create sustainable employment opportunities for young Ghanaians aged 18 to 35.

With this graduation, YEA has successfully delivered on its commitment to recruit, train, and deploy all 12,000 beneficiaries under the CPA module, marking a significant step in the fight against youth unemployment and in strengthening Ghana’s community policing framework.
