Following a year marked by viral digital hits and the rise of several promising new talents, the 2026 nominations reflect a dynamic contest between established stars and emerging voices within the country’s music industry.

The category highlights some of Ghana’s most influential contemporary pop and Afrobeats acts, each bringing a unique sound and growing fan base. KiDi enters the race as one of the most decorated nominees in recent years, having won Collaboration of the Year at the previous edition for Lomo Lomo, which featured Black Sherif. Meanwhile, OliveTheBoy also returns as a strong contender after his song Asylum secured Best Afrobeat Song of the Year at the last ceremony.
In the Best Hiplife Song category, Shoulder by Medikal featuring Shatta Wale and Beeztrap KOTM has earned a nomination. Released on June 6, 2025, and produced by Atown TSB, the track gained notable traction across Ghana’s urban music scene during the latter half of the year.
The nominations recognise music projects released between January 1 and December 31, 2025, following a rigorous submission and evaluation process conducted by the TGMA Board and its Selection Committee.

However, award-winning gospel star Joe Mettle, who won Best Male Vocalist and Best Gospel Artiste at the previous edition, will not participate in this year’s awards due to scheduling conflicts.
Organised by Charterhouse Productions, the awards scheme is held in partnership with TV3 Ghana, Closeup, the British Council, Guinness, and powered by Telecel Ghana.
Scheduled for May 9, the upcoming ceremony marks the 27th consecutive edition of the event, which has evolved from a national recognition platform into one of the most influential and commercially significant music award schemes in West Africa.
