Kwesi Arthur says former management should be held responsible if anything happens to him
Ghanaian rapper and songwriter Kwesi Arthur has publicly spoken out about what he describes as a long-standing dispute with his former management outfit, Ground Up Chale, and its co-founder, Glen Boateng.
In a strongly worded statement shared on his verified social media account, the award-winning artiste alleged that he has been asked to pay $150,000 for the use of his own images in connection with a project he is seeking to release independently.
According to Kwesi Arthur, the demand is based on claims that Ground Up Chale holds ownership of his image, music, and all related rights from 2016 to date. He maintains that he has had no professional relationship with the company since the release of his debut album, Son of Jacob.

The rapper further alleged that he earned no income from his music during the period he was affiliated with the label and accused his former management of subjecting him to what he described as persistent threats and manipulation.
Expressing concern for his personal safety, Kwesi Arthur stated that should anything happen to him, or if his current independent project is taken down, responsibility should be attributed to Glen Boateng and the Ground Up Chale team. He claimed there are deliberate attempts to prevent him from releasing music outside their control.
He also opened up about the emotional and psychological impact of the dispute, revealing that the prolonged situation has taken a significant toll on his wellbeing. The artist explained that his decision to speak publicly was driven by concerns for the safety of himself and his family.

“I’ve tried not to say anything for a long time,” he wrote, “but for the safety of myself and my family, I choose to publicly share the truth.”
As of the time of publication, Ground Up Chale and Glen Boateng have not issued a public response to the allegations. The claims have triggered widespread discussion across social media, with fans and industry stakeholders calling for transparency, accountability, and fair treatment of artists within the music industry.
